Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) mixed seafood (shrimps, squid, mussels, octopus, etc.)
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1 medium green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 medium red bell pepper, finely chopped
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice
1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh cilantro, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium avocado, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 medium cucumber, diced (optional)
1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) ground cumin (optional)
1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) smoked paprika (optional)
Directions
1. Cook the mixed seafood (shrimps, squid, mussels, octopus, etc.) in boiling water until fully cooked. Drain and let cool.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked seafood, sliced red onion, chopped green bell pepper, and chopped red bell pepper.
3. Add the diced tomatoes and diced avocado to the bowl.
4. Pour in the fresh lime juice and olive oil. Toss everything gently to combine.
5. Stir in the fresh cilantro and minced garlic.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add the ground cumin and smoked paprika.
7. If you’re using cucumber, add the diced cucumber to the mixture.
8. Toss everything together gently to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
9. Let the salpicón marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
10. Serve chilled and enjoy.
