Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 carrots, finely chopped
2 celery sticks, finely chopped
400g ground beef
200g ground pork
200ml red wine
800g canned tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 beef stock cube
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
400g spaghetti
Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Directions
1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
2. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent.
3. Add the minced garlic, chopped carrots, and chopped celery sticks. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Increase the heat to high and add the ground beef and ground pork. Cook until the meat is browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
5. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer until it reduces by half.
6. Add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, beef stock cube, dried oregano, and dried basil. Stir well to combine.
7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
8. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
9. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
10. Once the sauce is ready, serve it over the cooked spaghetti.
11. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
12. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top and serve.
