Homemade Coca Cola Chicken: homemade recipe

Ingredients

8 bone-in chicken thighs
1 can (12 oz) Coca Cola
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 medium onion, chopped

Directions

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, then sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

2. Season the chicken thighs with ground ginger and black pepper.

3. Add the chicken thighs to the skillet, skin side down, and cook until the skin is golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Flip and cook for another 5 minutes until browned on the other side.

4. In a medium bowl, mix together the Coca Cola, soy sauce, and ketchup.

5. Pour the Coca Cola mixture over the chicken in the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

6. Cover the skillet and let the chicken cook, basting occasionally, for about 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

7. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.

8. Serve the Coca Cola chicken hot, garnishing with extra sauce from the skillet if desired.
