Chicken wings: homemade recipe

Ingredients

2 lbs chicken wings
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ginger, minced
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)
1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray or vegetable oil.
2. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, vegetable oil, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until the sugar is dissolved and the ingredients are well combined.
3. Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss them in the marinade, ensuring each wing is well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours for better flavor.
4. Arrange the marinated chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Reserve the remaining marinade in the bowl.
5. Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
6. Meanwhile, transfer the reserved marinade to a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
7. After 25 minutes of baking, remove the wings from the oven. Brush them generously with the thickened marinade.
8. Return the wings to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until they are nicely caramelized and fully cooked through.
9. Once done, remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes.
10. Garnish the wings with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
