Capresa Salad: homemade recipe

Ingredients

4 large tomatoes
1 pound fresh mozzarella cheese
1 bunch fresh basil leaves
4 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1-2 tbsp balsamic vinegar (optional)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste

Directions

1. Wash and dry the tomatoes. Slice them into thick rounds.

2. Slice the fresh mozzarella cheese into rounds of similar thickness to the tomatoes.

3. Wash and gently pat dry the basil leaves.

4. On a large serving platter, arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices, alternating between the two.

5. Tuck whole basil leaves between the slices of tomato and mozzarella.

6. Drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil evenly over the arranged salad.

7. If using, drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the salad.

8. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
