Ingredients
4 cups fresh blackberries
2 cups vodka
1 cup sugar
1 vanilla bean (optional)
Directions
1. Rinse the fresh blackberries thoroughly under cold water and let them dry.
2. Place the blackberries in a large jar or container.
3. Add the vodka to the jar, ensuring all the blackberries are submerged.
4. If using, slice the vanilla bean lengthwise and add it to the jar.
5. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks, shaking it gently every few days.
6. After 2 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the blackberry solids and vanilla bean.
7. Pour the strained liquid back into a clean jar or bottle.
8. Add the sugar to the jar and shake well to dissolve.
9. Let the mixture sit for another week, shaking occasionally to ensure the sugar is fully dissolved.
10. Once the sugar is completely dissolved, transfer the liqueur to a final storage bottle.
11. Store in a cool, dark place and enjoy as desired.
